you are, i am

Six months ago, I saw this clipping above a doorway in Toronto. At the time I hadn't heard of You Are Beautiful, the global project where ordinary people post stickers, notes and art bearing those three words to "create moments of positive self realization" for anyone who passes by. Keep your eyes open- whether on walls, parking meters, bus seats, or library shelves, there could be some in your neighbourhood too. The y.a.b. site has photos and details on joining in.

Though we travel the world over to find the beautiful, we must carry it with us or we find it not. (R. W. Emerson)

thank you so much for posting this. i love it.

when i was living in london, i used to write nice notes on post-it's and stick them on the tube... like 'i really hope you're having a lovely day.'

i was homesick, and mostly they were notes to myself, but i figured, someone else would get the voyeuristic pleasure of finding one of these notes.

my friend zefrey throwell, http://zefrey.com/ does stencils on the streets saying 'zefrey loves you.' it's nice because he really does.

btw i'm joining this group. thanks love!

Welcome back from your mission, ambassador of style and taste. And it's been worth the wait.

By the way, I've begun a somewhat haphazard effort at blogging at http://bombaybeauty.blogspot.com. It's based on the experience of a Bombay Beauty, who after having lived in India, Canada, and the United States lands on the distant shores of the United Kingdom, only to discover that everything is the same and entirely different. It is completely fictional, naturally.

Cheers,

BB

You seem like you know a lot about fashion and clothes so I was wondering if you might possibly be able to tell me what sweater Natalie Portman is wearing in this photograph? I can't find a cashmere sweater like it.

I see the tender tidings of Spring

on a billboard;

I receive the blessing of a bouquet of fragrant flowers

on a train;

I hear the chorus of maidens which bring a thousand joys

in a customer alert;

I rejoice in our beauty

AT ALL TIMES.

I love that. I saw a huge one just off Bedford Avenue in Williamsburg but it was so big I couldn't photograph it well enough. It really made me smile...

Glad to read about that project here again. I've seen it somewhere before, but had forgotten all about it.
Thank you for reminding me.
By the way. You definitely are beautiful as well. Saw your picture on copenhagen streetstyle. Well haven't seen your photo for the first time, but, just wanted to let you know

I sometimes find ideas like this a bit contrived - but I love this. And the examples are fantastic. Thanks for sharing.

Aw, the "You are beautiful" thing is extremely cool.

I'll join it, if it's a group or such.

My internet's being a pest and questioning my authority, so now I'll go to the website.

I adore your blog, by the way.
Keep at it!
=)

i once bought a pair of jeans that had the "you are beautiful" leyend sewn inside, near the buckle. They sparkled my day every time i untied them, which was usually at the bathroom.
