Who among all of you will be in NY for Fashion Week on Feb. 2nd? Who is going to Paris instead? Who will be where they are now, surfing through style.com rather than working..?

it hard for me to get into womenswear, i'm more inspired by menswear, but i'm sure some of it will seep into my awareness

You can take me from New York, but not New York from me. I'm unlikely to be at any Fashion Week events, but the entire week does generate some pleasant bubbles in the city. I've been previously. The best shows for me were an amazing combination of art and thrill, of the sublime and desire. This is probably why I like opera. Of the various art forms, it is the most visceral. Cheers, BB

I am always interested in fashion shows. I look more at men’s styles than woman’s, but I like looking at the women’s styles (and the women as well) too. They are always so interesting. Unfortunately, many people think men’s fashion is nothing more than jeans and T shirts. Even some people who should know better, like some well respected bloggers, say “men’s style is about details” …the cut of the lapel, the amount of shirt cuff that shows below the coat sleeve…spare me. Even our host blogger here, who otherwise creates a fascinating and often far reaching blog, treats of men’s style like a misandrist.

Fashion shows are about the only time and place where men’s fashion is described with words like “the general ambience of indulgence and sensuality” and, as in the Armani show, the clothes are back-projected with Gabriele D’Annunzio poetry:

Un falco stride nel color di perla:
tutto il cielo si squarcia come un velo.
O brivido su i mari taciturni,
o soffio, indizio del súbito nembo!
O sangue mio come i mari d'estate!
La forza annoda tutte le radici:
sotto la terra sta, nascosta e immensa.
La pietra brilla più d'ogni altra inerzia.

So I always hope that something will fall off the runway that is truly soul-satisfying and that I can actually wear. Sometimes that happens, but usually I just dress casually but nicely…and except for this, I look like a normal guy.

weirdly I'll be in Paris when most of the London shows are on and in New York during most of Paris - confusing I know!

I will be in NY, but I don't know if I'll make it to any shows. Alas. Is it relatively easy to get standing room? what has your experience been?

I will be at both, searching outside Bryant Park (can see it from my office) and looking through every site possible to see all the outfits. I can't wait!

Grey Ant is today!

will be in berlin during most of london fashion week, and then in paris the week before the shows - terrible planning on my part! so yes, am afraid it's style.com for me...
