louis does laundry

So, I realize that the giant, checked shoppers commonly carried by elderly ladies in Chinatown have suddenly become fashionable thanks to Louis Vuitton's spring collection, but like Chanel's trash bag tote, it doesn't work for me. Maybe this is because my mum used the exact same oversized, plasticy bag to take clothing on international laundromat adventures, or perhaps I just can't shake the image of an 80+ year old woman on the subway today- stooped and wearing a wide hat to ward off the winter sunlight- who had a red and blue one hooked onto her trolley. Regardless of my opinion, the boxy bag is evidently here to stay for a month or two and I'm curious to hear what the general consensus is... are these 'too cool for school' or should they be reserved for grocery hauls?

The Ukrainian femme can be found here.

Mine is strictly reserved for laundry hauls (purchased at Honest Eds no less) - I can't do it either (and either should she!)

my mom is the ultimate modern day bag lady and also the ultimate thrift shopper. she used to by these bags from the 99 cent stores. i can't believe the style got copied for high end fashion.

I can deal with Chanel body bags... I cannot deal with this. Ridiculously out of control and NOT chic. It's something one would carry if they didn't know any better and only bought bags for their brand names. When in doubt, always ask yourself, "Would a Parisien carry this?" And in this unfortunate case, I think not.

I would only don a bag like this to carry my gym clothes in.

Marc Jacobs got to be kidding... well, guess not. The idea of someone paying a large amount of cash for that bag it makes me feel nauseated...
