melancholy longings

I miss Paris. My high heels in the rain, pistachio macaroons for breakfast, and afternoon walks along the Seine. I miss the crowd at La Perle, men who shouted smile! as I passed, and the magical rose shop in St. Germain. Above all, I miss Parisian style. The beautifully dressed people who converse in rapid fire french, glasses of wine in cafés, and an air of self confidence that intoxicates me still.

I will never be French, but Paris is my city. Come next year, I'm not sure I'll be able to leave after Fashion Week!

I'm going to Paris in June; I find myself wishing I only had a one-way ticket.

That's exactly how I feel about New York. Sigh.

Oh it sounds beautiful... take me with you! It'd be great if money didn't get in the way of living the kind of life where you can just enjoy everything.

ahhh... beautifully written. I understand your longing.

I leave for the states tomorrow and am already in mourning for europe...

Cheers!

Paris est autant ta ville que la ville d'un autre, autant la ville des artistes que la ville des francais. Tu seras bien sur toujours chez toi a Paris :-)

Ooh la la, moi aussi. I think the longest I have gone without checking out flight prices and hotels is 30 days.

I miss the reflections of the lights on the Seine, wandering around eating Berthillon white chocolate ice cream, reading French magazines in cafés with a hot chocolate and being mistaken for a French girl (by the French!) (This list could go on...)

"But, la Femme, why do you love Paris so? When I was there I saw dirt, and rudeness, and poverty, and unhappiness just like here."

"No, j, Paris is joy and the gratitude of being alive. Paris is the will to live with grace and sensitivity. Paris is what it means to be human in the best sense. Paris is to appreciate all in this my life."

"But that is just what it seems to be to you."

"j, you of all people should know that everything is just what it seems to be."

Bah, I'm bored of Paris-ridiculously expensive and full of pervs and snobs. But maybe I'm just jaded from living in europe too long.

If Paris is your city, come and live here then. It's possible (and it's worth it!).

I wish I could enjoy Paris as a city and not suffer it as the ball and chain that is work.... taking the Eurostar is like commuting these days...and I never get to savour Paris and all it's gloriousness.

I'll be in Paris late June/early July next year - I wonder if there's any chance you may be there at this time too?

Would be a dream.

oops! sorry eb I kind of jinxed you with my post today, right down to the macarons, the seine etc! (of course we love the same things!) how embarassing, I must have read yours before and it got lodged in my subconscious. ah, I miss it though, especially now I don't know when I'll be back there...

All is well in the City Of Lights. The Perle is still Perly, the weather's still shitty, and we put all our efforts in being well-dressed, well-behaved arrogant fucks. Let's hope we will still have someone at which to shout: "Allez, souris!" in a million years...

hI miss Paris too! But I think one has to be in love to experience Paris the way it was meant to be. So I'll wait...

First time I saw Paris it really disappointed me. I saw dirt, I saw unfriendly people, shitty weather, bad smells.. 6 months ago I went again and this time it was just heaven on earth. Ah, I miss my Eiffel Tower at night..
My love story started off in Paris.. romantic promenades, kisses in the rain, walks along the Seine.. My lover is an audiovisual artist living in Paris and now he comes 2500 km to see me in my country. Our love is strong, though it seems impossible... In 4 months or so I'm due to go to Paris again. This time only for him, pour mon amoureux.
Paris is magic. I long for it...
One day I'll live there. It's my city, the city of lights. Goes well with the light in my heart. :)
