mise en scène

I was very, very happy last Sunday night when, upon picking up the enormously thick NY Times newspaper bought earlier in the day, out slid the T travel magazine with Sofia Coppola's face on the cover, pink plastic eiffel towers dangling from her ears, and the word 'Paris' in Gothic script below. The article inside (Sofia Coppola's Paris) was predictably dreamy and transportive, particularly if you enjoy Ladurée pastries, strolls along the Seine, market shopping, and personal fittings for apparel by Alaïa and YSL... But besides all that, something jumped out at me that I didn't known before- SC interned at Chanel as a teenager. Mon dieu- is it possible for me to be more jealous? No, I think not.

Damn... ;-) Chanel is the love of my life, too. Always have been and always will be.

I echo your sentiments! J'adore Sofia! (I've read the article online but I'd love to see the cover you described. Any way you could scan it?? I'd be eternally grateful.

Ditto about the cover. Can you?! Sounds gorge (i've seen the article online too).Whenever I read articles about Sofia who is one of my fave people too I get a little shock. Because she seems so normal and relatable, then you have to remind yourself that she grew up being ferried around in a private jet and spending the summer holidays at Chanel! Oh to have her life!

forgot to say I read a magazine article years and years ago where the journalist turned up at Chanel HQ when a 16 year old Sofia was interning there - wearing dungarees - cute!

moi- you can find on the ny times website.
I was already jealous , now I'm actually green .
Don't know what hurt more , chanel internship or
the personal fittigns at alaia and ysl . The rest just makes me sad I'm not in Paris. I didn't know she dated phoenix 's lead singer though (of whom I'm a huge fan ),
but I guess it explains the use of their music while still unknown .

Big merci! I missed that article. I once met Sophia by accident. While at the Coupola vineyard, about 7 years ago, I was looking for the winemaker. But I sent in the wrong direction. I knocked on the door of a small shed and Sophia poped her head out and gave me the correct directions-very natural, very kind really. Funny the things you remember...

Yes Sophia...and la Femme.

Oh Paris...somewhere between soulsurrender and a sigh.

I await my chance.
I'll need an accomplice.

(perhaps I'll book a flight on Air Away and Astray and see the flight attendents with those pretty Prada uniforms with the turbins)

I loooooove this article! I definitely took notes from it (and from your previous posts) on what to do/visit when I'm in Paris.
